The invention refers to equipment for cauterizing prickly pears (tunas) for increasing the useful life thereof. The equipment is pneumatic and has two automatically-controlled pistons, which press the prickly pear and apply heat to the peduncular cavity of prickly pear with a resistance fastened by an upper piston. The equipment uses a pre-established pressure and temperature for a predetermined period of time, the prickly pears may be arranged in a manual or automatic manner over the lower piston. Once the prickly pear is located in the plunger of the upper piston, this latter element is lowered for pressing the prickly pear with the cauterizing resistance. A timer circuit controls the actuation times of the pneumatic electrovalves.Esta invención se refiere a un equipo cauterizador de tunas que permite aumentar la vida de anaquel.
