A device for performing laparoscopic surgery which combines cautery and tissuedebrisconveyance via a combination of suction and an archimedes screw, the cauteryelectrodeencased within the archimedes screw, the device comprising a body portionhousing a motorfor rotating the screw, a cannula having an aperture for exposing aninstrument, extendingfrom the body portion, and a connector system operatively associated with thebody portion,the connector system organized to provide pre-determined relative locations ofconnection foroperably connecting the cannula, a cautery electrode and an archimedes screwto the bodyportion such the cautery electrode tip is positionable outside the aperture ofthe cannula andthe archimedes screw is disposed within the cannula in a position forconveying tissue enteringthe cannula via suction.
