A device for the controlled delivery of infusate into normally open eye tissue gaps such as the subconjunctival space, the suprachoroidal space and the subretinal space. The device comprises an elongate body having a hollow cannula at the distal end, a slidable plunger at the proximal end, and a container for the infused material present between the cannula and the plunger. The plunger is mechanically coupled to a force source, such as a spring or a pressurized gas reservoir, so that an injection force is applied to the injected material in the device before the injected material is delivered into the eye. . A normally closed valve to prevent the infused material from flowing during the application of the dosing input is placed in the flow path between the cannula and the container. Due to the injection force applied to the infusate, actuation of the valve allows controlled flow from the container through the cannula to the tissue gap.
