The present invention addresses the problem of providing a gear shift operation mechanism that improves the operability of an operation pedal for steplessly shifting a rotational power in both a forward and reverse direction, as well as a work vehicle provided with this gear shift operation mechanism. This gear shift operation mechanism (60) is provided with a gear shift operation shaft (113) onto which is fitted a pedal boss (112) of a pedal arm (111) proximal end side of a forward pedal (60f), an intermediate link (117) coupled via a coupling member (116) to a pedal boss (115) of a pedal arm (114) proximal end side of a backward pedal (60b), and a link shaft (119) onto which is fitted a link boss (118) of the intermediate link (117).
