PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive containing carboxymethylated pulp that is homogeneous and has excellent dispersion stability and imparts excellent water-holding and shape-retention capacities.SOLUTION: An additive contains carboxymethylated pulp with a degree of carboxymethyl substitution being 0.50 or less and a degree of cellulose I-type crystallization of being 50% or more.
