The present invention relates to a novel low cost medium for production of Poly-hydroxy Alkanoates (PHA) based on rotten tomato. Medium is made by boiling rotten tomato followed by mashing the tomatoes. The pulp is then filtered to get the clear filtrate. This filtrate is used as a carbon source. Different concentrations of the rotten Tomato waste pulp are experimented. Pre determined quantity of different Nitrogen sources acd other salts are also experimented followed by the adjustment of pH to 7.
