An ophthalmic apparatus is provided with a calibration member (74) having a a predetermined setting length as an optical path length from a wavelength sweeping light source device of a sweeping type, and including a reflection surface (74a) for reflecting light from the light source device (12). The light source device (12) periodically sweeps a wave of light by outputting the light from the light source via a wavelength sweeping element that is driven periodically. A control unit (64) obtains, according to a driving cycle of the wavelength sweeping element, a reference point spread function signal by obtaining an interference signal for calibration outputted from the light receiving element (26) in a given obtainment period in the driving cycle. When a peak shape of the reference point spread function signal deviates from a predetermined shape range, a timing to start the obtainment period in the driving cycle of the wavelength sweeping element is adjusted so that the peak shape of the reference point spread function signal comes to be within a predetermined shape range.
