PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire of which the distal end part performs joint motion.SOLUTION: A guide wire 100 includes a slender guide member 102 formed to have a dimension to be inserted into a vessel in the body of a subject. The slender guide member 102 includes a slender body segment 110 and a leading distal end segment 106. The slender body segment 110 defines an opening part in the longitudinal direction thereof and the leading distal end segment 106 is formed to have a dimension to perform joint motion with respect to the slender body segment 110 around a single axis p.
