PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type disposable diaper which has good appearance, and which facilitates positioning to a wearers body and positioning of an absorbent pad.SOLUTION: A symbol 40 comprising non-coloring parts 41 (tint parts) which have relatively tint color, and coloring parts 42 (deep color parts) which have relatively deep color, is formed on an external body 3, in a manner that the symbol is visible from at least a skin facing surface side of the external body 3. In the vicinity of at least one side edge 2S out of both side edges 2S, 2S in a vertical direction X of an absorbent body 2, the non-coloring parts 41 and coloring parts 42 are alternately arranged along the side edge 2S, and when lengths in an extension direction where the side edge 2S extends, of adjacent non-coloring part 41 and coloring part 42 are compared, vertical length 42L of the coloring part 42 is longer than vertical length 41L of the non-coloring part 41.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
