PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a novel 4-vinylphenol polymerizable compound having excellent anti-cancer activity, lipase inhibitory activity, and tyrosinase inhibitory activity a process for producing the novel 4-vinylphenol polymerizable compound effectively and anti-obesity agents, skin disease therapeutic agents, anti-cancer agents, whitening agents, food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics containing the 4-vinylphenol polymerizable compound.SOLUTION: In the process for producing the 4-vinylphenol polymerizable compound represented by formula (1), the 4-vinylphenol polymerizable compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is produced by heating p-coumaric acid under the alkaline condition.
