The present invention provides an embolization device for promoting clot formation in a lumen and a method for manufacturing an embolization device. The embolization device comprises a proximal segment (4) and a distal segment (3). Each of the proximal and distal segments (4, 3) comprise a stem and a plurality of flexible anchoring bristles extending outwardly from the stem. A flow restricting membrane (5) is located longitudinally within the bristles of one of the proximal and distal segments (4, 3). The flow restricting membrane (5) has a central hole, and there is an interference fit between the central hole and the stem. The method of forming the embolization device according to the invention includes the steps of manipulating at least some of the bristles so that they are aligned with the stem, mounting the flow restricting membrane (5) between the bristles and on the stem. The method also includes engaging the stem in the central hole of the membrane (5). Manipulating of the bristles is performed by a manipulating tool and the method includes the step of releasing the bristles from the tool.
