Disclosed is a method of administering a herbicide to a plant, the method comprising the steps of: (a) providing an opening in the stem of a plant, wherein the stem comprises a tubular portion having a cavity therein； (b) inserting a consumable delivery means including a herbicide into the opening in the stem of the plant.
