PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus capable of acquiring an excellent image with no vignetting even when attachment accuracy of a solid state imaging device and an observation optical system is low, and to provide an image processing apparatus and a method for operating the endoscope apparatus.SOLUTION: Information for specifying an image segmentation area for segmenting an image for display corresponding to an overlapping area which is formed by a displayable pixel area of the solid state imaging device and an image formation area of an optical image formed in the solid state imaging device by the observation optical system and is acquired when the center of the image formation area is made to coincide with the center of a display area, is stored in a storage part as image segmentation information. The image for display is segmented from the image on the basis of the image segmentation information.
