PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device which can stably brake rotation of a wheel, and further, can perform changeover to a mode in which rotation of the wheel is not braked without separation of a contact member from the wheel.SOLUTION: A braking device comprises a contact member 31 which brings an outer peripheral surface 311 into contact with a wheel 2, a shaft member 32 which rotatably supports the contact member 31, and a regulation member 33 which regulates rotation of the contact member 31. The contact member 31 is rotated together with rotation of the wheel 2 in one direction from the state of contacting the wheel 2 and is pressure-welded to the wheel 2, a space between the shaft member 33 and a portion contacting the wheel 2 is changed by rotation, and a friction force given to the wheel 2 is also changed.
