PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peptide having a new cell proliferation-promoting activity, a peptide having a cell proliferation-promoting activity and a heparin-binding activity, and their physiologically acceptable salts.
SOLUTION: Provided is a peptide represented by one of the following (1) to (4) or its salt. (1) The peptide comprising an amino acid sequence represented by the following general formula (I): Phe Phe X
1 Arg X2 Glu Ser Asn X3 Tyr (wherein, X1 is Glu or Asp X2 is Leu or Phe X3 is Asn or Gln). (2) The peptide comprising an amino acid sequence represented by the above general formula (I), wherein one or more amino acids are replaced, deleted or added, exhibiting solubility in water, and having a cell proliferation-promoting activity. (3) The peptide comprising an amino acid sequence represented by the following general formula (II): Phe Phe X4 Arg X5 Glu Ser Asn X6 Tyr X7 Thr Tyr Arg Ser Arg Lys (wherein X4 is Glu or Asp X5 is Leu or Phe X6 is Asn or Gln X7 is Asn or Gln).
