The invention relates to a method and system for cooling milk comprising heat recovery, consisting of a first heat exchanger that pre-cools the freshly-milked milk to a certain temperature using cold water, which is pre-heated to this end a second heat exchanger connected to a heat pump via a closed cooling fluid circuit, wherein the second exchanger cools the cooled milk in said second exchange.
