PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a difference between a model and an actual anatomical structure by updating the model. The method comprises navigating the anatomy of a patient using a medical device that includes a sensing tool. The method further comprises associating the position of the instrument with a model of the patient's anatomy. The method further includes updating the model based on the data obtained by the sensing tool while navigating the patient's anatomy.
