PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capsule endoscope capable of efficiently acquiring an image to be read while further reducing power consumption and a method for controlling motion of the capsule endoscope.
SOLUTION: This capsule endoscope 11 includes an illumination light source section 36 having adjacency-illuminating light sources 50a-50d and distance-illuminating light sources 51a and 51b. The adjacency-illuminating light sources 50a-50d illuminate equally-divided zones 55a-55d formed by quadrisecting an imaging region 54 of a CCD 33, respectively. The distance-illuminating light sources 51a and 51b illuminate a central zone 57 positioned at the center of the imaging region 54. An image analysis circuit 69 iedntifies a zone where a region of interest is projected out of the respective zones 55a-55d and 57. A driver 68 lights only a light source corresponding to the zone identified by the image analysis circuit 69. A trimming processing circuit 70 clips only the section identified by the image analysis circuit 69.
