The invention provides a method for processing an electrical signal provided by a laser Doppler flowmeter. The method comprises the steps of:- Providing a laser Doppler flowmeter signal and separating the DC and AC components of the signal so as to provide a DC signal and an AC signal- Amplifying the AC component by a first amplification and the DC component by a second amplification factor to obtain separated amplified AC and DC signals- Generating a weighted signal from a variable offset electrical signal, the amplified AC component and the amplified DC component- Filtering the weighted signal and converting it with an A/D converter and processing the converted signal with computing means to obtain a laser Doppler signal proportional to the liquid flow-The invention is also achieved by a laser Doppler flowmeter using the method of the invention.
