Methods for improving a hair quality in a subject comprise mixing a polypeptide covalently bound to a hydrophilic polymer and/or a polysaccharide covalently bound to a hydrophilic polymer and an oxidizing agent, a reducing agent, or ammonia； and applying the composition to hair.
