Pharmaceutical forms comprise Witepsol H-15 (RTM: suppository base) and a spagyric mother-tincture of the plants Drosera rotundifolia, Ephedra, Hydrastis canadensis, Thymus vulgaris, Amygdala amara, propolis, Catharanthus rosea, Bryonia alba, Sambucus nigra and Mandragora officinalis. The plant components can be in a dissolved, dispersed or suspended form in cocoa butter or similar substance. The dosage forms use semi-synthetic lipophilic excipients either in mixtures or singularly combined with other excipients, water-soluble lipophilic excipients with polyethylene glycols either in a form of different proportions of water-soluble excipients or using a single type of excipient, and lipophilic excipients of glyco-gelatin and glyco-stearates either in mixtures with other excipients or singularly. Water-dispersible excipients are used with or without the presence of non-ionic surfactants for forming oil-in-water emulsions. The excipients accelerate the disaggregation of the pharmaceutical form in the rectum and promote absorption of less soluble actives. Excipients used include e.g. polyoxyethylenesorbitan monostearate, sorbitan esters of fatty acids and polyoxyethylene esters of fatty acids. All the forms can use excipients in combination with consistency regulators, crystallization initiators, dispersants, absorption promoters and protectants. ACTIVITY : Antitussive; Anti-inflammatory; Antioxidant; Antispasmodic; Antibacterial; Antimycotic. No biological data given.
