PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that while a conventional device for applying ointment to the back is contrived to be excellently handleable when applying the ointment to the back, when applying the ointment to an accessible location such as a hand, a foot and an abdomen or the like, it is needed to put the ointment onto a hand and apply it, the ointment attached to the hand needs to be washed off every time and handleability is not good.SOLUTION: An device for applying ointment or the like, is configured such that an ointment applying means is freely detachably attached to an end of a rod-like body. For an device 1 for applying the ointment or the like, an ointment applying means 2 is freely detachably attached to a column part projecting to the side and formed at the distal end of a rod-like body 3. The rod-like body 3 is formed of a synthetic resin material, and on a base end side, a holding part 5 projecting by about 30 centimeters in the same direction as the column part is formed.
