PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a footrest operation device of safety and easy-to-operate for a person in a wheelchair.SOLUTION: A footrest operation device comprises an operation part 2 and a remote operation mechanism for operating a footrest with the operation part 2. The remote operation mechanism comprises an inner cord 30B, wire operation means 20, footrest moving means, and an engagement mechanism 50. The wire operation means 20 is for operating the inner cord 30B by operation of a dial 25. The engagement mechanism 50 comprises a pawl 26 which engages with a tooth row 23 provided on the wire operation means 20 side so as to permit the operation of the wire operation means 20 in one direction and control that in the other direction.
