Use of edible films based on vegetable hemicelluloses and wax in fruit preservation The present invention is based on the use of biodegradable films based on vegetable hemicelluloses and wax applied to whole fruits improving their preservation. Polysaccharide-based films are colorless and have good gas and water vapor permeability properties. Biodegradable films formed by polysaccharides and lipids with satisfactory mechanical and appearance properties are potential and ecological alternatives to the use of synthetic packaging. Therefore, newly developed films are focused on combining the matrix polymer with some hydrophobic component. Caesalpinea pulcherrima seeds were used for the extraction of galactomannan (polysaccharide) through grinding, water swelling, filtration and drying processes to obtain the powder. The lipid used was carnauba wax t-1. A central composite design was used to evaluate the effect of proportions between 2 components: carnauba wax (0.3-0.9% w / w) and glycerol (15-20% mlv) - on properties. of the formed films. The percentage of galactomannan was set at 0.75% w / v. The design consisted of 11 trials.
