PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article excellent in transferability of liquid.SOLUTION: The absorbent article 1 includes a front surface sheet 2 for forming a skin contact surface, a back surface sheet 3 for forming a skin non-contact surface, and a vertically long absorber 4, and is used for absorbing body fluid. The absorber 4 includes a lower absorber 4B and an upper absorber 4A disposed on the skin contact surface side of the lower absorber 4B. The upper absorber 4A is composed of a planar absorbent sheet 40, the upper absorber 4A has multilayered parts 41, 41 where the absorbent sheet 40 is folded and piled up in three or more layers on both sides in the longitudinal direction of the absorber 4 respectively, a recessed part 42 is formed on the side of the front surface sheet 2 between the pair of multilayered parts, and at least one mutually adjacent layer is joined for each multilayered part 41. For the absorbent sheet 40, both side ends 40s along the longitudinal direction of the absorber 4 are at the position of an inward bend part 43 where the absorbent sheet 40 is folded inwards in the width direction of the absorber, or are positioned more on the outer side than that.
