PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a possibility that mowed grass, or the like, are scattered by raising a grass-collecting box 18 by mistake during drive of a lawn mowing mechanism or by driving a lawn mowing mechanism, when there is the grass-collecting box 18 at a raised position in a lawn mower, equipped with the grass-collecting box 18 for receiving mowed grass reaped by the lawn mowing mechanism and a lifting mechanism 19 for lifting the grass-collecting box 18.
SOLUTION: The lawn mower has a constitution that a detection rod 194 is pivoted vertically and swingingly, at the back end side as a fulcrum on an opening and closing link mechanism 190 for opening and closing the rear cover plate 21 of the grass collecting box 18 while a limiting switch 218 for detecting the tip part of the detection rod 194 is attached to the lift mechanism 19. Only when the rear cover plate 21 is in a closed state and the detection rod 194 is supported on an outrigger 215 in a held position from the under side, the limiting switch 218 is permitted to detect the tip part of the detection rod 194 and the engagement/disengagement operation of a PTO clutch for continuing and discontinuing power transmission to the lawn mowing mechanism.
