A composition comprising 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one dispersed in an aqueous medium, further comprising one or more polysaccharides, said polysaccharide being dissolved in said aqueous medium； and wherein (a) said composition does not contain a surface-active compound, or (b) said composition includes one or more surface-active compounds, and the amount of said surface-active compound in said composition is less than 0.4 wt.% in terms of the mass of the specified composition. 2. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the amount of said 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one is from 5 to 40% by weight, based on the weight of said composition. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the amount of said polysaccharide is from 0.5 to 1.5% by weight, based on the weight of said composition. The composition according to claim 1, in which the total amount of all surfactants and all polymer thickeners that are not polysaccharides is 0 or more, and is less than 0.4 wt.%, Calculated on the weight of the specified composition. The composition of claim 1, wherein said polysaccharide comprises xanthan gum, hydroxyethyl cellulose, or a mixture of the foregoing.
