The method involves obtaining X-ray image records concerning a portion of heart (28) of patient (30) after introducing an ultrasound head (24) into coronary vessel (26). A subtraction image data set is calculated based on the obtained X-ray image records. A segmenting process concerning subtraction image data is performed to identify the data assigned with ultrasound head. The data of specific X-ray image record is assigned with data of subtraction image data set to determine geometric association. The ultrasound head is located based on the geometric association.
