A use of an extract of Crossotephium chinense (L.) Makino for manufacturing a drug or a healthy product against differentiation of osteoclasts is disclosed. The extract of Crossotephium chinense (L.) Makino is manufactured by extracting a sample of Crossotephium chinense (L.) Makino by an ethanol solution with a weight percentage being 70-95% at 25-40℃. The sample of Crossotephium chinense (L.) Makino and the ethanol solution have a weight-volumetric ratio being 1:5-1:10. The sample of Crossotephium chinense (L.) Makino is selected from roots, ground portions or hole plants containing roots and ground portions.一種海芙蓉萃取物之用途,係用以製備抑制蝕骨細胞之分化的藥物或保健食品,其中,該海芙蓉萃取物係由體積百分比為70~95%之一乙醇溶液,於25~40℃下萃取一海芙蓉樣品而得,該海芙蓉樣品及該乙醇溶液之重量體積比為1:5~1:10,且該海芙蓉樣品係為海芙蓉根部、地上部或全株。
