PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a whey peptide-containing liquid nutritive composition, stable even if undergoing heat sterilization so as to be taken by surgical patients and/or patients with undernutrition attributable to insufficient oral intake, slight in burden on digestive tracts with low residues, excellent in amino acid composition, valuable in terms of nutrition, simple in preparation, enabling high-calorific administration, good in tube fluidity, and designed to hardly cause developing diarrhea.
SOLUTION: The liquid nutritive composition is such as to be compounded with 2.8-6.0 wt.% of a whey peptide 300-1,500 dalton in average molecular weight as a protein source. In this composition, a dextrin with DE 6-16 is compounded at 15-30 wt.% as a carbohydrate and no lipids are substantially compounded. This composition is characterized by being 1.0-1.4 kcal in calorific value per mL, being liquid even after undergoing heat sterilization and 300-500 mOsm/kg or lower in osmotic pressure and 30 mPa s or lower in viscosity.
