The present method provides a method of treating inflammatory bowel diseasewhich comprises administering to an animal having ocular hypertension orglaucoma therapeutically effective amount of a compound represented by thegeneral formula (I)； wherein X, Y, Z, D and R3 are as defined in thespecification. Also useful for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease arecompounds comprising formula (II) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or aprodrug thereof； wherein A, X, J, and R3 are as defined in the specification.Also useful for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease are compoundshaving an .alpha. and an .omega. chain comprising formula (III) or derivativesthereof, as defined in the specification or pharmaceutically acceptable saltsor prodrugs thereof.
