A drug for preventing or treating inflammatory bowel disease, said drug comprising as an active ingredient an RXR agonist that is a compound represented by formula (1). In formula (1), it is preferred that: R1 represents an alkyl group； R2 represents an alkyl group； W represents NR3 (wherein R3 represents an alkyl group)； X1 represents CH； Y1 represents N； X2 and Y2 represent CH； and Z represents a carboxyl group. Thus, a drug capable of strongly preventing or treating inflammatory bowel disease while suppressing the onset of side effects can be provided.
