A human antibody or antigen-binding fragment of an antibody which specificallybinds human nerve growth factor (NGF) with KD of 5 pM or less, does not cross-reactwith neurotrophin-3 (NT-3), and binds human NGF with a KD of about 2 to about 10-foldhigher than the antibody or fragment binds rat and mouse NGF. The antibodies areuseful in treating pain, including inflammatory pain, post-operative incisionpain, neuropathic pain, fracture pain, osteoporotic fracture pain, post-herpeticneuralgia, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer pain, pain resultingfrom bums, gout joint pain, as well as diseases, such as hepatocellular carcinoma,breast cancer, and liver cirrhosis.
