A bone mill for use with a base unit is presented. The bone will includes a housing having an inlet opening to which bone stock is introduced into the housing an outlet opening spaced away from the inlet opening as well as a cutting device mounted in the housing between the inlet opening and the outlet opening. The cutting device is mounted in the housing to rotate across space housing between the inlet and outlet openings so as to transform bone stock into bone chips and to move laterally within the housing. The cutting device is further formed with an alignment feature for engaging a base unit alignment feature so that the engagement of the alignment features results in the lateral position of the cutting device so that a base unit spindle can engage and rotate the cutting device.
