PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure safety when a grass cutting guide plate covering a grass cutting discharge port of a side discharge type mower is raised and rotated. SOLUTION: In a passenger grass mowing machine in which a side discharge type mower 5 is mounted below a traveling vehicle, a mowing guide plate 20 covering a mowing discharge port 19 of the moor cover 18 can be rotated about a rotation shaft 23 with respect to the moor cover 18. The mowing guide plate 20 is provided in a locked working posture that regulates the upward rotation of the mowing guide plate 20 around the rotation shaft 23 and a maintenance posture that is rotated upward. A mowing guide plate posture detecting means 38 for detecting the maintenance posture is provided, and the engine 11 is stopped when the maintenance posture is detected.
