Incrusted, pelleted or granulated seed contains a ratio of seed to water-soluble, synthetic, crystalline cpds. (I) usable by plants, pref. KMgPO4 or its hydrate contg. 6, pref. 1 molecule of water of crystallisation, of 1:0.1-1, pref. 1:0.1-0.5, and the mixt. of seed and (I) contains inorganic and/or organic binders in an amt. of 0.5-30 wt.%, and also inorganic and/or organic builders in an amt. 5-90 times the wt. of the other components (for pelleting or granulating) or in an amt. of 5-20% of the other components (for incrustation), and 10-130% H2O, calcd. on the total mixt. before drying. The particle size of (I) is pref. 10-200 u, esp. 40-100 u. (I) chemically binds the residual H2O which can only be removed with difficulty by air drying. This reduces loss of germinating power during storage.
