A fused (F) protein of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), wherein said RSV F protein contains: (i) a deletion of one or more amino acids of the fusion domain, where said fusion domain corresponds to amino acids 137-154 F of wild-type RSV protein (SEQ ID NO : 2)； and (ii) at least one inactivated furin cleavage site. The RSV F protein of claim 1, wherein said RSV F protein contains a deletion of amino acids corresponding to amino acids 137-146 of wild-type RSV protein F (SEQ ID NO: 2). The RSV F protein of claim 1, wherein said furin cleavage site is a primary cleavage site. The RSV F protein of claim 3, wherein the inactivation of the primary cleavage site is effected by introducing at least one amino acid substitution at positions corresponding to amino acids selected from the group consisting of arginine 133, arginine 135, and arginine 136 F wild-type RSV protein (SEQ ID NO: 2) .5. The RSV F protein of claim 4, wherein at least two amino acid substitutions are introduced at positions corresponding to amino acids selected from the group consisting of arginine 133, arginine 135, and arginine 136 F wild-type RSV protein (SEQ ID NO: 2) .6. The RSV F protein of claim 4, wherein the three amino acid substitutions are introduced at positions corresponding to amino acids selected from the group consisting of arginine 133, arginine 135 and arginine 136 F wild-type RSV protein (SEQ ID NO: 2). 7. The RSV F protein of claim 4, wherein at least one amino acid at a position corresponding to amino acids selected from the group consisting of arginine 133, arginine 135 and arginine 136 F wild-type RSV protein (SEQ ID NO: 2) is substituted glutamine. 8.
