PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an edible and water-soluble film high in transparency, tasteless, odorless, flexible, high in strength and excellent in physical properties in total, and to provide its production method.
SOLUTION: The edible water-soluble film high in transparency, tasteless, odorless, flexible, high in strength and excellent in physical properties in total, is formed by using, as a film-forming material, a laver component of a polysaccharide porphyran sulfate. The film easy in processing and composed of a single component deriving from a natural vegetable material high in safety, can be formed by the invention. Thereby the film having such excellent physical properties in total as tasteless, colorless, odorless, transparency, flexibility, high heat-resistance, elastic force, formability of a thin film with high strength, water-solubility and adhesion, can be provided.
