PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soil improving material as means for effectively using strained lees including sludge discharged in a food industry, enhancing a fertilizer component, improving a physical improvement effect of soil, and aiming at promoting plant growth.SOLUTION: A soil improving material includes an organic soil improving material containing sludge and charcoal composition as the essential components. The sludge is vegetable strained lees discharged after producing drinking water, and is obtained by mixing other food residue with charcoal composition followed by accumulating and anaerobic fermentation, and drying the product with a continuous mixer followed by rapidly stopping fermentation. The organic soil improving material containing coconut fiber as the essential material is such that a vapor phase ratio is 15-20 volume%, a liquid phase ratio is 70-75 volume%, a vapor phase is retained at a sufficient ratio, and a mineral matter soil improving material comprising at least either one of Akadama soil or Kanuma soil is contained so as to increase a vapor phase ratio.【課題】 食品工業で排出されるスラッジを含む搾りかすを有効利用する手段として、肥料成分を高めるとともに土壌の物理的改良効果を向上させ、植物の生育を促進させることを目的とした土壌改良資材を提供する。【解決手段】 土壌改良資材は、スラッジと木炭コンポを必須成分として含む有機質土壌改良資材を含有する。スラッジは、飲料水の生産後に排出される植物性の絞りかすであり、その他の食品残さと木炭コンポを混合して堆積して嫌気発酵後に、連続攪拌機で乾燥させ急速に発酵を止めることで得られる。有機質土壌改良資材は、ココナッツファイバーを必須の材料として含むことを特徴とし、気相率は１５～２０体積％であり、液相率は７０～７５体積％であり気相が十分な割合で維持されている。さらに赤玉土及び鹿沼土の少なくとも一方よりなる鉱物質土壌改良資材を含有することで気相率を高めている。【選択図】なし
