The present invention relates to a medicine composition for protecting brain nerve cell comprising at least gallic acid, which is used for suppressing the occurrence of epilepsy by regulating epilepsy related protein COX-2 and at the same time protecting nerve cells from toxicity and damage generated by brain cells when epileptic seizure occurs. The gallic acid has an effective concentration between 0.1-10 micro moles. The medicine composition may further comprise a biological compatible excipient or coagent. The gallic acid functions to control inflammation and immunoreaction of nerve cells by regulating the expression of COX-2 protein and also help reducing the damage of nerve cells caused by epilepsy. The gallic acid may help reducing the content of free radicals in cells.本發明係一種保護腦神經細胞的醫藥組合物,其至少包括有一沒食子酸,並藉由調控癲癇相關蛋白質COX-2來減少癲癇之發作,同時可以保護神經細胞免於受到癲癇發作時對腦細胞產生的毒性和傷害。
