PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate with a water-repellent transparent coating film having excellent water repellency and excellent transparency, haze, hardness, strength, scratch resistance, wear resistance, adhesion or the like.SOLUTION: There is provided a substrate with a water-repellent transparent coating film which comprises a substrate and a water-repellent transparent coating film formed on the substrate, wherein the water-repellent transparent coating film is composed of an inorganic oxide fine particle layer comprising surface-treated inorganic oxide fine particles, the water-repellent transparent coating film surface has an irregular structure, the average height (T) of the projection parts of the irregular structure is in the range of 30 to 500 nm, the average distance between the projection parts (pitch width) (W) is in the range of 50 to 1000 nm and the contact angle with water is in the range of 130 to 180°.
