PURPOSE: A medium composition containing soybean for culturing Monascus spp. is provided to remarkably enhance Monascus spp. fermentation efficiency and to manufacture food and feed for losing body weight. CONSTITUTION: A medium composition for culturing Monascus spp. contains: a main ingredient including soybean, soybean-processed products, or soy fiber obtained from the soybean, the soybean-processed product, or a mixture thereof； a minor ingredient containing a mixture including 2.5-7.5 parts by weight of glucose, 0.5-1.4 parts by weight of KH_2PO_4, 0.02-0.07 parts by weight of magnesium sulfate(MgSO_47H_20), and 0.1-0.4 parts by weight of potassium acetate(CH_3COOK), a soy broth including glucose, a hot water extract of potato, potato dextrose, a hot water extract of soybean, and casein, and rice flour, starch, or a malt extract； and water.
