Independent claims are also included for: (1) producing a food or feed comprising providing a suspension of cells, preferably cells from Thraustochytriales, having a moisture content of at least 30 wt.%, preferably 40-80 wt.%, from a cell mass having a moisture content of less than 15 wt.%, preferably 1-9 wt.%, mixing the cell suspension with additional food or feed ingredients, and preparing the final product by an extrusion process, preferably with an energy input of up to 50 kWh per tonne of suspension, preferably 1-30 kWh, 2-20 kWh or 3-15 kWh, respectively per tonne of suspension and (2) a food or feed produced from the above mentioned method.
