PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent detection from being disabled by preventing raw materials from being attached by improving flexibility of mounting locations of a detecting device for detecting casing breakage during operation of a filling apparatus, to eliminate necessity of a special supporting unit, and to reduce the time until the next operation after the casing breakage.SOLUTION: A filling apparatus includes: a filling nozzle 40 for discharging a filling material from a discharge port 42 into a casing 43 a filling pump 30 for supplying the filling material into the filling nozzle 40 a casing pushing device 80 for pushing a rear end 44a of a casing which is yet to be filled and is in a shirred state in a direction toward the discharge port 42 of the filling nozzle 40 and a movement stop detector 100 (casing breakage detecting device) for detecting stoppage of the casing pushing device 80 in the course of the movement.
