PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray photographing apparatus which enables an operator to make an immediate and intuitive, fine adjustment when he/she is dissatisfied with a position or a direction of photographing by looking at a photographed image, allows a large work space above an operative field without restricting a standing position or a posture of the operator when photographing is not performed, does not hinder the operator by, such as, requiring to move the standing position in photographing, and enables quick and intuitive positioning for photographing when the operator wants to photograph.SOLUTION: In an X-ray photographing apparatus in the embodiment, an X-ray tube emits X-rays to a subject placed on a top plate. X-ray diaphragm means changes an irradiation range of the X-rays. First supporting means supports the X-ray tube and is configured to change at least one of a position and a direction of the X-ray tube. A detector detects the X-rays. Second supporting means movably supports the detector. Position detecting means detects a position of the detector.
