A guiding device 20 includes: a magnetic field generating unit 25 configured to generate a magnetic field to be applied to a permanent magnet 18 within the capsule endoscope 10 to guide a capsule endoscope 10 a position and posture detecting unit 22 configured to detect a position of the capsule endoscope 10 in a subject to output positional information and a control unit 26 configured to control the magnetic field generating unit 25 to change distribution of the magnetic field relative to the capsule endoscope 10. The magnetic field generating unit 25 generates the magnetic field for creating magnetic attractive force in such a direction as to restrain the capsule endoscope 10 at a specific position on an arbitrary plane. The control unit 26 changes, based on the positional information, the distribution of the magnetic field relative to the capsule endoscope 10 when a distance between the specific position and the capsule endoscope 10 becomes greater than a threshold value.
