PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polymer that can correspond to not only blood compatibility but also various biocompatibilities such as control of cell adhesion and an affection to fate determination of a stem cell and a production method of the same.SOLUTION: A preparation method of a polymer is characterized by including a process in which a cyclic compound that has a 4-13 membered ring cyclic structure that has a carbon-carbon unsaturated bond, and in which a substituent that includes a structure that contributes to inclusion of at least one intermediate water is bonded to the cyclic structure, is performed by ring opening polymerization to obtain a polymer.
