PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel filaggrin expression promoter using a component which promotes filaggrin expression by a component existing in living organisms, and to provide cosmetics and external preparation for skin to which it is applied.SOLUTION: A filaggrin expression promoter contains tocopherol as an active ingredient. In the filaggrin expression promoter of the invention, tocopherol is preferred to be dl-&alpha-tocopherol or acetic acid dl-&alpha-tocopherol, and the content is preferred to be 1-3%. And the invention also provides cosmetics and external preparations for skin containing the filaggrin expression promoter of the invention.
