PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use acquired data effectively when the measurement for scanning an acoustic detector and receiving an acoustic wave propagating from a subject is interrupted.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition device includes: an acoustic detector for receiving an acoustic wave propagating from a subject an information processing part for generating an image indicating characteristic information on the subject based on the acoustic wave, and displaying the image on a display part and a position control part for moving a position of the acoustic detector with respect to the subject from a measurement start position along a predetermined locus.
