PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photo acoustic apparatus capable of making irradiation means accurately move to a measurement position even when a subject cannot be visually confirmed.SOLUTION: An acoustic wave measuring apparatus includes: holding means 105 for holding a subject irradiation means 101 for irradiating the subject with light acoustic wave detection means 102 for receiving, through the holding means, an acoustic wave generated in the subject by the light an imaging apparatus 103 for imaging the subject position designation means 107 for a measurer designating a measurement position on an image acquired by the imaging apparatus coordinate conversion means 108 for converting coordinates of the measurement position on the image to coordinates of a corresponding position on the holding means and position control means 109 for making at least one of the irradiation means and the acoustic wave detection means move to the corresponding position on the holding means.
